Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA is a full-service, big-rig friendly RV park offering a variety of sites in a wooded setting, just minutes from downtown Gettysburg, PA, and Gettysburg National Military Park, site of the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. Gettysburg is also home to Gettysburg College and Lutheran Theological Seminary.
The Good: Clean, well-maintained campground with wooded campsites and the features you’d expect in a KOA, and more. There’s a heated swimming pool, life-size chess and checkers, a playground, and a fenced doggie park. Staff are friendly and helpful.
The Bad: Nothing bad to report, except a faint sewer smell from time to time. Granted, our site was positioned near the dump station.

We camped in site #1, right across from the fenced doggie park, the pool, and the office, camp shop, and laundry. The checkout traffic got a bit hectic on Friday morning, but all in all, it was a great site.
The kids enjoyed the sandy, pirate-ship themed playground at the Gettysburg KOA, along with the heated pool and the convenience of the doggie park being so close to our camp site. Tall deciduous trees provided a nice canopy. We had beautiful dry weather, with highs in the mid-70s, for the duration of our stay in early June.
The Appalachian Trail passes near here. During our stay at the Gettysburg KOA, we met a gentleman from Arizona whose wife was taking several months to hike the entire length of the trail, about 2,200 miles, from Georgia to Maine. The Appalachian Trail Museum in Gettysburg is considered roughly the half-way point.
Conclusion: We’d gladly stay here at the Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA again if we were in the area. We’d have stayed longer this time around if we weren’t already scheduled at our next stop. If you’re looking for a campground or RV park near Gettysburg, we’d highly recommend Gettysburg KOA!
